Whether it was his tireless attempts at singing or his constant jabs at dancing; his hearty beat-box or his round-the-clock efforts at song writing, one thing was always certain: JonJon was built for this.
He was born John Saffold in San Fernando, California, more regularly known as “The Valley.” At the age of 12, he and his family made their way over to South Carolina but far before the thousand-mile change in residence, John was off to a spirited start singing babbles on plastic microphones to friends and family. “It was a little after 16,” he admits, “that’s when I realized that my singing was decent.” Soon after reaching that conclusion, he decided to showcase his steady-growing talents on YouTube—“locals just weren’t singing my favorite songs the right way” he claimed, “and so naturally, I was inspired to sing them my way.”
“He2Fast” would soon become a popular pit-stop on the Tube, racking up about one million visits in only his first year. Fans from all over the world enjoyed his unique sound; females particularly, smiled at both his sound and eye-narrowing physique. John admits to having spent a lot of his time behind a computer thanking fans and frequent visitors; he didn’t spend much time however, replying to E-Mails from those questioning his seemingly irrelevant username: “He2Fast.” “The truth is I was a sprinter/jumper in high school and put up some impressive numbers,” he said modestly. “I helped my high school team win the state championship two years in a row. But those who preferred numbers over trophies always recognized me for my 10.40 in the 100 meter dash or my 4.25 in the 40 yard dash.” I guess the name suits him well after all.
Years later, with his YouTube visits climbing to the millions and a hunger to take his music career to the next level, John decided to move to New York City where he is currently working on his mixtape. The release date has yet to be determined.
